The One Piece
Have you ever debated with your friends about the origin and content of One Piece? If you're a fan of the eponymous work, you've at least asked yourself this famous question: what is One Piece?
Please know that we too are asking ourselves this question, we have had many internal debates, and we are sharing with you one of our best conclusions. Those who are not up to date on the work risk spoilers, so be warned!
What do we know about One Piece?
Let's start with some facts to lay the foundations for this theory. One Piece is a treasure found on Laugh Tale , the last island of Grandline , an island visited only by one crew: that of Gol D. Roger , the Pirate King, who claimed upon his execution that he left his treasure there. This is the only official information we have on One Piece, which turns out to be a little, I grant you. So how can we make a theory out of it? Well, the mysteries that make up this work are numerous, but most certainly all linked. Indeed, for us, One Piece , the forgotten century, Joy Boy and the will of D constitute a single story.
So what is the theory?
Let's get straight to the point: we believe that the One Piece is an artifact / key left by Joy Boy , allowing the manipulation of ancient weapons in order to fight against the oppression of the world government. I know what you're thinking, more crackpots who invent anything, because indeed too many inconsistencies starting with the simplest: why didn't Roger use it? Why didn't the world government get their hands on it? Know that we have the answer to these questions, and that we rely on other things.
Joy Boy, the forgotten century and the will of D
Joy Boy is considered the first person to be called a pirate. He was born at the beginning of the Forgotten Century and died towards the end of it. It is likely that Joy Boy was not his name, but a title given to him. It is known that he once declared war on the 20 Kings, a war he ended up losing. Despite everything, Joy Boy tried to pass on the 3 ancient weapons to future generations, probably in order to fight against the world government. The only two people who knew Joy Boy were Zunesha and Emeth . With all this information, we can consider that the Forgotten Century was erased from history to ensure that Joy Boy 's story would never be learned. He still had time to leave a trace of his story as well as a treasure on an island that would be called 800 years later: " Laugh Tale ".
We know that the Ds represent: "The natural enemies of the gods," gods who are surely the Celestial Dragons. From this information, the "D" clan may represent the clan that allied itself with Joy Boy during the great war of the forgotten century.
Luffy's role in all this?
This is where it gets interesting. Luffy is called Joy Boy by Zunesha and Emeth when he fights in Gear 5th, because they hear "the drums of liberation." They then catch up and clarify that he is not the Joy Boy they knew. To us, this can only mean one thing: Joy Boy had the Nika Nika no Mi and had awakened it, just like Luffy . This seems even more coherent when we put other pieces of the puzzle together, starting with the Gorosei which very clearly expresses that Zoan-type Devil Fruits have "a will." In this case, the fruit recognized Luffy as the worthy successor to Joy Boy, a succession which was obviously planned since the forgotten century. Indeed, several elements allow us to affirm this: first of all, there is Toki, Oden 's wife who had the mission to travel 800 years in the future, and who specifies when she meets Oden that she must go 20 more years in the future, then there is Roger, who specifies to have arrived 20 years too early. Everything brings us back to Luffy , who seems to have inherited the will of D, the will of Joy Boy, and a prophecy dating back 800 years. Roger for his part played a determining role. Having all the knowledge dating back to the forgotten century, he was aware of this prophecy, and therefore contributed in his own way: Launching a great era of piracy upon his death, ordered Shanks to protect the devil fruit from the world government and to give its powers to the one he considers worthy, ordered Rayleigh to train the heir a first time, and Scopper Gaban a second time. But one question remains: why didn't Roger use this "artifact"? For a simple reason: the artifact only activates when reacting to Nika's powers, just like Emeth , who only wakes up when Luffy transforms into Gear 5.
Okay, but what's the point of One Piece then?
For us, One Piece is an aid from ancient times against oppression. Whether through information, or the power to manipulate ancient weapons. A support passed down from generation to generation, waiting for the one who will be destined to change the world. Luffy would therefore be destined to wage a total war against the world government, or all the armed forces present in the work would oppose each other, echoing the last words of Whitebeard. Another clue could be Luffy 's ultimate dream, which we still don't know to this day. Indeed, Luffy says he has a dream, which will only be achievable after becoming the Pirate King, and this dream could be very simple: to have a gigantic banquet with all the peoples of the world, who will then be totally free. How to do it, you might ask? Nothing could be simpler: Destroy MaryGeoise and the entire part of RedLine below it, which would echo the vision of the mermaid Shirley, the one who announced Luffy as the destroyer of the island of the fishmen, the island which is located right below MaryGeoise. The world government brought down and all the seas of the world connected, (Sanji would at the same time find All Blue) all the peoples would be free to do what they want, where they want and when they want, and what better way to celebrate than a banquet with their savior?
Conclusion
Thus, JoyBoy's and D's will would be accomplished, Luffy 's dream would be realized and that of the Mugiwaras too. One Piece would therefore not be the end of the work, but the key to access it. We, the readers, would have the answer to all these mysteries and would have witnessed the end of a story planned for more than 25 years, a story destined to enter into legend: ONE PIECE
